Into the Mystic
My development as an 'alternative' style violinist coincided with the mid 1970's explosion of Australian popular music. I was fortunate enough to play and record with many iconic Australian musicians.
My journey took me from the dusty foothills of the Sunbury Pop Festivals where I played with the 'Pelacco Brothers' and Mushroom Recording artists 'Millionaires' as part of the Carlton music scene to the Australian punk push where I recorded with Nick Cave and Roland Howard on the first Boys Next Door album 'Door Door'.
In order to take advantage of the exciting opportunities presented to me during this period my violin repertoire and arsenal warped into a whole new way of learning and of playing the violin.
Improvisation, playing by ear, composing my string lines and string section parts from band charts, embracing the new sonic possibilities of audio electronics and writing for film - all came together.
